Jakarta is capital city of Indonesia with a population almost 10 million people. Located on the northwest cost of Java, Jakarta has become central economic, culture, and political activities. That’s way Jakarta known as metropolitan city because has more rapid growth than another city in Asia such as Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, and Beijing. Jakarta is served by the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Halim Perdanakusuma International Airport, Tanjung Priok Harbour, Gambir Railway Station. Public transportation in Jakarta is connected by several intercity and commuter railways, and served by several bus lines running on reserved busways, well known as Transjakarta bus.

One of symbol in Jakarta is The National Monument (Monumen Nasional/Monas) which located on the center of Merdeka Square, Central Jakarta. Monas has 433 feet (132 meter) tower and topped by a flame covered with gold foil. Monas construction began in 1961 under the direction of President Soekarno and the monument was opened to public in 1975. The monument and the museum is open daily from 08.00am-03.00pm, everyday throughout the week, except for the last Monday of each month, when the monument is closed.

As metropolitan city, Jakarta has dozen interesting place to visit. Not only tourism but also culture and heritage place. There is a lot thing to do in Jakarta such as traveling, shopping, and sightseeing. From morning until evening, Jakarta promises amazing tourism and entertainment to tourists. We can travel seeing Jakarta by using Transjakarta bus which has 11 routes route and already reach entire Jakarta areas. We just pay ticket for 3,500 rupiahs to ride Transjakarta bus. We can surround Jakarta route by moving the stop-stop route in particular without the need to pay a ticket again. One of the Transjakarta bus recommended route is a corridor Blok M-Jakarta Kota Station, which crosses the heart of Jakarta, where along the route is high-rise buildings around Thamrin-Sudirman Street and Monas monument.

If you interesting in culture and heritage, the best place to go is museum. The most frequently visited museum in Jakarta is Fatahillah. Other museums that can be used as an alternative is the Wayang Museum, Textile Museum, Museum Satria Mandala, Textile Museum, and Museum Gajah. Besides that, Jakarta has cultural park called TMII (Taman Mini Indonesia Indah) which has traditional houses from 33 provinces in Indonesia and located on Jalan Pondok Gede, East Jakarta.

Last but not least, the best thing to do in Jakarta is shopping. Jakarta provides many places including mall and traditional market that sell good quality goods with a low price. Pasar Tanah Abang is one the biggest traditional textile and garment market in Jakarta. Cheap shopping in Jakarta can also find us at the time and specific events, such as Jakarta Great Sale in June 2012. This annually event held to celebrate the 485th Jakarta anniversary which organized by the Jakarta branch of the Indonesian Shopping Center Association (APPBI) and the Jakarta administration. The festival will be longer than its usual 30 days, hoping to record more transactions.
