The distance of Lhok Nga beach from the city of Banda Aceh is quite far compared with Lampuuk beach that is 22 km. To go there may take 40 minutes by urban public transportation. While if the tourists go there by private vehicle; it only takes 25 minutes.

Saman Dance and Ratéb Meuseukat.

Most people recognize Saman dance. Saman dance is one of traditional dances from Aceh province. Unfortunately, public are sometime get mistaken that Saman dance is actually Ratéb Meuseukat dance.

Those two dances are basically coming from the same province of Aceh, but they are belong to different tribe. Ratéb Meuseukat is belongs to Aceh tribe, while, Saman dance is belongs to Gayo tribe in Central Aceh. There are 3 different things that differentiate these dances:

- Saman dance using Gayo language, and Ratéb Meuseukat using Aceh
language.

- Saman dance is brought by male dancer, and Ratéb Meuseukat is
brought by female dancer.

- Saman dance is un-instrumented, while Ratéb Meuseukat is accompanied
by rapa’i and geundrang.

Ratéb Meuseukat dance is taken from Arab language; ratéb means praying, and meuseukat is silent. The content and the rhyme of this dance is about praise to the Lord and His Prophet which brought by group of female dancer with their traditional costume. This dance is growth in Meudang Ara Rumoh Abro in Soutwest Aceh propince.

At early begin, Ratéb Meuseukat was played after the class of reading Koran at night, and also become the media to preach, and it played in sitting and standing position. Nowadays, this dance is sometimes performed in great events, wedding ceremony and other occasion.

Saman dance is also become one of the media to the achievement of the preaching message (da’wa). This dance reflects the educational, religious, polite, heroism, solidarity and togetherness.

Saman dance is performed without instrument and played by group male dancer that wearing traditional costume. The instrument of this dance is using the sound of the dancers and their applause that usually combined with beating their chest and groin as synchronization, and threw the body to here and there.

This dance is guided by a leader who is typically called a Syech. Since this dance need formation uniformity and timeliness, the dancers are required to have high concentration and serious exercise in order to perform perfectly. This dance is danced by men in particular.

In general, saman dance played by dozens of men, but the amount should be in odd number.Others say that this dance is danced more or less in 10 people, with details of 8 dancers and 2 as cue givers. Nevertheless, at present time it requires the dance will be more lively when it danced by more dancers. To arrange a variety of movement, it instituted a leader who called sheikh. In addition to regulating the movement of the dancers, Sheikh is also tasked to sing poems, called ganit.

Bangkaru island is part of Banyak archipelago that located in Hindia Ocean, at west side of Sumatra Island. Administratively, this island in belongs to Banyak island sud district, Aceh Singkil regency, Nanggro Aceh Darussalam.

To reach this island can be ride motor boat for 5 hours drive from Singkil, or it takes only less than an hour from Banyak Island. The beaches at this island are Amandangan and Pelanggaran beach, which is the place of green turtle lay egg, leatherback and hawksbill. The tourists that come along to these beaches can also enjoy surfing, which at certain time, the wave at this ocean can reach 5 meters high.

There are a lot of islands that close to one at another, and the closest island from Bangkaru is Tuanku, Sarangalu and Balai island.

Pulau Bangkaru, is the second biggest island in Pulau Banyak, and it is a magical island. This island was once a stronghold area during the Dutch colonial period and is now becomes one of tourist attractions in Indonesia. This is because there are lot of relics of the historical graves of soldiers that was killed here. In addition, Raya Island is also a fishing attraction and there are numbers of coral reef for those who enjoy snorkeling and diving.

Raya Island is an outer islands of Indonesia that located in Indian Ocean and is bordered by India state. Raya Island is part of the government district of West Aceh, Aceh province. It precisely located in Lhok Kruet village, Sampoinet sub district, Aceh Jaya regency. It can be reach through the streets of Banda Aceh province along the western coast, as far as 65 km to the Meulaboh. The road can be through the area of Lhonga, Lhong, and Lamno.

In the western tip of the island that known as Ujung Manek society, there are hills of red lands and rocks. The reefs in the far west is end toward the Indian Ocean that steep and bumpy hard.

Quiet and lonely. That is the perfect words to describe Raya Island that covering approximately 3.42 square kilometers. This island is also one of the silent witnesses of Tsunami that attack Aceh in 2004. Overall, this island is still has beauty and uniqueness.


Simeulue, is a district in Aceh and an archipelago that consist of 41 large and small islands. The beauty of these islands makes many tourists give visit, and Simeulue island becomes the largest of 41 islands in this archipelago. This island reach an area of ??199 502 hectares and it becomes tourists favorite destination, for it has high waves and clean sea. Those who like to surf and play with adrenaline, this place is such a heaven.

Simeulue island or Simalur island is located in western Sumatra. It located approximately in 150 km off the west coast of Aceh, it is also the island of Simeulue district administration, that settled in the middle of the Indian Ocean. Its geographical position isolated from the mainland.

Merpati Air have direct flights from Medan to Sinabang on Simeulue Island. While, Susi Air have daily flights from Medan to Sinnabang Simeulue. You can also catch a ferry from Meulaboh in Aceh on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 6pm for a 12 hour trip to Simuelue Island. There are also ferries that running from Singkil in North Sumatra to Simuelue or you can charter a boat from Nias or Banyak Islands. After get arrive in the island, there is not a great deal of accommodation on Pulau Simeulue, but we can still explore the island.


Tuangku island is one of biggest islands in Banyak archipelago that located in Indian Ocean or precisely located in the west tip of Sumatra Island.
