Holiday in Malang
Malang, the second largest city in East Java, bordered by Probolinggo and Lumajang Regencies on the East; Blitar and Kediri Regencies on the West; Jombang, Indian Ocean on the South; and Mojokerto and Pasuruan Regencies on the North. This is the interesting place for tourists, beautiful, clean and quiet. Many tourist visit Malang to go to Malang’s beaches, such as Ngliyep beach, Balekambang beach, and Sendang Biru beach. Or Malang’s temples, Singosari temple, Jago temple, and Kidal temple. Malang still has another attractions that will attract you to visit, they are Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park, Mount Kawi, Wonosari tea plantation, Coban Rondo Waterfall and the others.
Ngliyep Beach, 62 meters from Malang city, Kedungsalam Village, Donomulyo. This is the beautiful rock beach at Malang, white sand, waves, forest, and steep cliff. You can swimming, sun bathing, relaxing, playing with sand, overseeing Kombang Mount or fishing here. Every 14 Maulud, there will be some annual traditional ceremony that held here, Labuhan Mulud. Local people will sacrificing heads of cow or goat to the sea.
Singosari Temple, 12 kilometers north of Malang. This temple also known as Kendedes temple. Singosari temple built in 1300 AD in honor to the last king of Singosari dynasty, King Kertanegara, who died in 1292 AD. Not only Singosari temple that dedicated to King Kertanegara but also Jawi Temple. There will be two gigantic statues (Dwarapala), believed to be the entrance guards to palace. This temple is a symbol of Malang regency from years ago. The temple has a simple base without any ornament or relief. Unlike other temples, the stairs at the base of the temple bear no decoration of makara pattern.
Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park, this is the famous one of Malang’s attractions. Many tourists come to Bromo to watch the sunrise. You will see the overlay of sea sand that the way to reach Bromo’s peak. The most crowded visiting area is Cemorolawang, the main gate to the sea of sand and mount Bromo. The activities in this area not only watch the sunset but also horse riding or walking to the sea of sand, camping, and watching the scenery. Tengger caldera (crater) in which 5 (five) mounts are located could be a special interesting thing in the tourism. Tengger Caldera is very large and known as Laut Pasir Tengger, it has been protected since 1919. This is believed to be the only conservation area in Indonesia.
Wonosari Tea Plantation, is situated on the slopes of Mount Arjuna, Malang. This is the oldest tea plantation in East Java that was utilized as agrotourism. This place has a peaceful impression and beautiful panorama of tea plantation. The tourist can watch the processing of tea from the leaves taken to the tea that ready to drink. Another activities in this area are swimming, sport riding, bicycle paths healthy, soccer, volleyball, and tennis. If you come to this place with your children, there are other activities for your children such as playground, mini train, and mini zoo.
Coban Rondo Waterfall, is located in the middle of the forest in a mountain in Batu, Pandesari village. it takes about 50 minutes driving from Malang. Coban Rondo environment full with pine trees and a lot of casuarinas, make the atmosphere feel cool and fresh. Coban Rondo waterfall has a height of 84 meters it looks mighty by pouring so much water. In the rainy season, waterfalls flow of 150 liters per second. This place provides a camping ground, jogging track, fishing or playing with elephants from The Elephants’ School Waykambas Lampung – Sumatra.
